Lib Dems on Cornwall Council have today (23rd February) secured £200,000 for an expanded and enhanced doctor’s surgery in Bodmin.
Two Bodmin GP surgeries - Carnewater and Stillmoor - have been working collaboratively to create a new doctors’ surgery. However, funding concerns stalled progress between the health service providers. The £200,000 funding secured by Lib Dems on Cornwall Council will facilitate the progression of the expanded and enhanced health service for Bodmin residents.
Pat Rogerson, Lib Dem Councillor for Bodmin St Leonard, said:
“The additional funding for an enhanced and expanded GP service for Bodmin is fantastic news for our residents. I am pleased that we were able to work with health services to progress this for the people of Bodmin.”
Leigh Frost, Lib Dem Councillor for Bodmin St Petroc said:
“This is a really important win for the people of Bodmin, improved health infrastructure has always been a top priority for residents here, and we can now move forward with plans to create a sustainable service going forward.”
Jacquie Gammon, Lib Dem Councillor for Bodmin St Mary's said:
"When I stood for election to represent the people of Bodmin St Mary’s I pledged that I would do everything I could to get a new doctors' surgery and to improve healthcare in Bodmin. This announcement demonstrates that the team of Lib Dems in Bodmin have worked together to to ensure this will progress."
