Give local people more say on development

We, the undersigned:

Believe that local people and their democratically elected councillors are better placed than inspectors sent in from outside Cornwall to judge the merits of planning applications.

And call on Cornwall Council to lobby central government for a change in the rules governing appeals against the refusal of planning applications. This change should ensure that inspectors, when considering such appeals, must start from the basis that the democratically elected members of the planning committees have made the right decision, and that this can be overturned only when there is demonstrable and overwhelming evidence that they were wrong.
